Average Polarization of Electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-Model Beams through Anisotropic Non-Kolmogorov Turbulence

چکیده
Polarization properties of electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model beams propagating through the anisotropic non-Kolmogorov turbulence of marine-atmosphere channel are studied based on the cross-spectral density matrix. Detailed analysis shows that the average polarization decreases with increasing the spectral index, inner scale of turbulence and generalized refractive-index structure parameter. We find the effects of anisotropic turbulence on the average polarization is less than that of the isotropic turbulence and the depolarization effect of turbulence in marine-atmosphere is larger than terreneatmosphere. The electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model beam with the parameters of smaller δyy, δxx and Ax, but larger Ay will reduce the interference of turbulence.

Wander and Spreading of Gaussian-Schell Model Beams Propagating through Anisotropic Marine-Atmospheric Turbulence
The effects of anisotropic turbulence on the wander and spreading of Gaussian-Schell model beams propagating in non-Kolmogorov marine-atmospheric channel are investigated. Expressions for beam wander and long-term beam spreading are derived in all conditions of marine-atmospheric turbulence. Our results indicate that the beam wander and spreading of Gaussian-Schell model beams are lower in the ...
متن کاملSecond-order statistics of stochastic electromagnetic beams propagating through non-Kolmogorov turbulence.
We present a detailed investigation, qualitative and quantitative, on how the atmospheric turbulence with a non-Kolmogorov power spectrum affects the major statistics of stochastic electromagnetic beams, such as the spectral composition and the states of coherence and polarization. We suggest a detailed survey on how these properties evolve on propagation of beams generated by electromagnetic G...

Two major performance degrading factors in free space optical communication systems are rainfall and atmospheric turbulence. We study the outage probability and bit-error rate for free-space communication links with spatial diversity and Gaussian-Schell electromagnetism beams over the raining turbulence fading channels by double inverse Gaussian distribution proposed in this paper. Assuming int...
متن کاملPolarization changes in partially coherent electromagnetic beams propagating through turbulent atmosphere
In this paper, we study the effects of turbulent atmosphere on the degree of polarization of a partially coherent electromagnetic beam, which propagates through it. The beam is described by a 2 × 2 cross-spectral density matrix and is assumed to be generated by a planar, secondary, electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model source. The analysis is based on a recently formulated unified theory of coh...
متن کاملTensor Method for Treating the Propagation of Scalar and Electromag- netic Gaussian Schell-Model Beams: A Review
In this paper, we give a review of the tensor method for treating the propagation of scalar and electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beams. Partially coherent complex curvature tensor is introduced to describe a scalar astigmatic partially coherent GSM beam with twisted phase (i.e., twisted anisotropic GSM beam). A tensor ABCD law for treating the propagation of scalar twisted anisotropi...
